Two Maids & A MopTM provides residential cleaning services to
homeowners throughout the Rockville, MD area
My dream of being a business owner started at an early age for me. It seemed that I was born to be an entrepreneur. While my friends were playing Barbie, I was playing office. From our family room, my corporate office operated. My setup was simple-card table, old phone, manila folders and the stock section from the newspaper. I’m not exactly sure what type of business I was operating but we were busy. Throughout the day, I would bark orders over the phone to my imaginary assistant. There were fictitious reports to write and imaginary deals to close. It was stressful and my assistant would occasionally get fired. But my goal was to operate a profitable and successful business.
Fast-forward more than thirty years later my dream was finally realized. After considering many other business options I decided to join Two Maids & A Mop. After signing all of the paperwork, I thought back to my early imaginary days as pre-entrepreneur and reflected on what I’ve been doing since. The years have been filled with business education and exposure to various jobs, companies and industries while always still holding on the dream of being my own boss. I’ve spent time at start-ups and large companies witnessing both the good and the bad including several layoffs. Much of my time was devoted to building and growing teams. Over the years, I hired and fired hundreds of people. I took on challenging projects for demanding bosses. I worked hard and constantly tried to improve each respective business. Most of my work involved grinding-coming in each and every day driving team performance. At times, it felt like Ground Hog day. Each day started to feel the same. It was hard to stay motivated and then even more challenging to motivate others to keep going-just produce one more widget, make one more call, just work a little harder. Even with the challenges, my teams were able to do it. We produced and delivered. We met and often exceeded goals.
Now, I have an amazing opportunity to apply my background to my new business. I’m thrilled to help grow my team and give my employees the opportunity to earn more thru our Pay-Per-Performance plan. Additionally, the thought of providing our clients with the best service in the DC metro area makes me excited. Beyond the goal of amazing customer and client retention, the thought of giving back to the community truly inspires me. At Two Maids and A Mop, we are partnering with Cleaning for a Cause and will be donating our cleaning services to women who are receiving treatment for cancer. We’re excited to be part of the Montgomery County community and hope that you give us an opportunity to provide your next professional housecleaning.
Before my acquisition, the company has been in operation for two years but is slow in its ramp up. There’s lots of work to be done. I’m preparing myself for the grind, knowing that I’m going to have to hire, fire and motivate daily. Again, I’m going to have to push staff to work hard. Certainly, the feeling of Ground Hog day will resurface as we build momentum and volume. However, now that it’s mine, the grind is easier. Things are changed. I feel different towards the work. The work isn’t any easier but my feelings towards the work have changed. Now, I don’t mind working evenings and weekends. Every minute I spend working on my business is grind equity. Slogging through contracts, state and federal requirements and other admin tasks are much more enjoyable now that it’s my own. Each item off my list brings me back to the same goal I had as a seven-year-old: To operate a profitable and successful business.
Proven history of success
Some people hire us because they think our name is cute. Some people hire us because we’re the first cleaning company to pick up the phone when they call. And some people hire us because their neighbor thinks so highly of our cleaning services that she tells the neighborhood. But if we had to pick one reason that you should hire our service – we’d pick the Two Maids Pay For Performance Plan. It’s our one, big, huge competitive advantage.
No other cleaning service in Rockville can claim that customer feedback is more important to their company. At Two Maids & A Mop, your feedback directly determines our employees level of compensation. The happier our employees make you; the more money they’re able to earn with our company. It’s an awesome motivational tool and it creates owners out of every single one of our employees!
